Our Standards

Setting the Bar for Caregiver Excellence

At MedLink Home Care, we believe that the quality of care begins with the quality of the people who provide it. That is why we have established one of the most comprehensive caregiver screening and training programs in Georgia's home healthcare industry. Every professional who joins our team must meet exacting standards before they are ever entrusted with the care of your loved one.

Our multi-step qualification process goes far beyond minimum state requirements. We have designed it to give you and your family complete peace of mind, knowing that every MedLink caregiver is thoroughly vetted, extensively trained, and genuinely committed to providing exceptional care.

Our Comprehensive Screening Process

Before any caregiver is assigned to a client, they must successfully pass every step of our thorough screening process. There are no shortcuts and no exceptions.

Criminal Background Checks

Every candidate undergoes a comprehensive criminal background investigation at the federal, state, and county levels. We search national databases, sex offender registries, and abuse registries to ensure your safety.

Credential Verification

We verify all professional licenses, certifications, and educational credentials directly with issuing institutions. This includes CNA, HHA, LPN, and RN licenses as well as specialty certifications.

Professional References

We contact multiple professional references, including former employers and supervisors, to validate work history, reliability, character, and quality of care provided in previous positions.

Drug Screening

All caregivers must pass a comprehensive drug screening before being hired, and are subject to random testing throughout their employment. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for substance abuse.

In-Person Interviews

Every candidate participates in a thorough face-to-face interview with our hiring team. We assess communication skills, empathy, problem-solving abilities, and genuine passion for caregiving.

Skills Assessment

Candidates demonstrate their practical caregiving skills through hands-on evaluations. We assess their competency in daily care tasks, safety protocols, and patient interaction techniques.

Training Requirements

Meeting our screening requirements is just the beginning. Every MedLink caregiver must complete our comprehensive training program and participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in home healthcare.

  • CPR & First Aid Certification: All caregivers must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications from accredited organizations. Recertification is required every two years, and we cover the cost for our team members.
  • Infection Control & Prevention: Rigorous training in infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, sanitization procedures, and bloodborne pathogen safety. This training is updated annually to reflect current CDC guidelines.
  • Dementia & Alzheimer's Care: Specialized training in caring for individuals with cognitive impairments, including communication techniques, behavioral management strategies, safety measures, and creating supportive environments that promote dignity and comfort.
  • Patient Safety & Fall Prevention: Comprehensive instruction on identifying and mitigating fall risks, safe transfer techniques, proper body mechanics, home safety assessments, and emergency response protocols to protect clients from injury.
  • Medication Management: Training on medication reminders, proper documentation, recognizing adverse reactions, understanding common prescriptions, and communicating effectively with healthcare providers about medication concerns.
  • Cultural Sensitivity & Communication: Education on providing culturally competent care, respecting diverse backgrounds and beliefs, active listening, and building trusting relationships with clients and their families.
  • Ongoing Continuing Education: All caregivers are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education annually. Topics include new care techniques, disease-specific training, technology in caregiving, and client rights and advocacy.
  • MedLink Orientation Program: Every new caregiver completes our proprietary orientation program covering MedLink's care philosophy, policies and procedures, documentation standards, communication protocols, and our 5-Star Promise commitments.
